What’s in a name?

I prefer to focus on the approach that I am living with, and am not defined by my diagnosis of Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. Although it does impact the way I do certain things, I do not want it to be my reason for being. I am much more than these conditions and I want to share that philosophy with others. (Claire Worley, Founder & Director of Living With… Support)

Many people live with various medical conditions – this online support community concept was born to offer support to those people in a holistic and positive way to navigate one’s own journey.

I have spent over 20 years managing Endometriosis and Adenomyosis, working with a range of specialists & practitioners in conjunction with adjusting my lifestyle, diet and exercise. It has been, and will be, an ongoing journey due to my symptoms varying as the years go on. My story is a long one, but by all means, it has been an interesting journey of growth & learnings. Now I want to take the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge to help others by offering Endometriosis, Adenomyosis & pelvic pain lifestyle resources.

None of us should feel alone or isolated because we aren’t ‘like everyone else’. This is a safe space and a community where one can make personal decisions, without judgment, to discover what works for their body. I hope this space helps you feel supported on your quest to health and your body’s ‘normal’.

Why a hibiscus as an icon?

There are different meanings behind the beautiful hibiscus flower, depending on which country or culture you apply it too. But the key elements that stood out to me, and that were mostly represented in multiple beliefs are: beauty, strength, femininity, love, family (community) and a driver of positivity.

  • A hibiscus is considered a very feminine flower and so is usually given or worn by women. (We acknowledge that not everyone who suffers from these conditions identifies as female. However, I feel this represents me as the founder of the business.)
  • In Victorian times, giving a hibiscus meant that the giver was acknowledging the receiver’s delicate beauty.
  • In China, the hibiscus symbolises the fleeting and beauty of fame or personal glory. It is given to both men and women.

It is believed that different hibiscus flowers have different meanings, however I have focused on the general meanings of colours than the specific flower colours;

  • Yellow is associated with happiness, sunshine and good luck
  • The meaning of the colour pink is unconditional love and nurturing
  • The colour turquoise is associated with meanings of refreshing, feminine, calming, sophisticated, energy, wisdom, serenity, wholeness, creativity, emotional balance, good luck, spiritual grounding, friendship, love, joy, tranquility, patience, intuition and loyalty
  • The colour purple is connected to power, nobility, luxury, wisdom and spirituality

The multiple petals with unique shapes represent how different we and our treatment options are- but together we can achieve the best outcome.
